IRC Rules

As we continue to get more and more users making use of the IRC chat resource, it is becoming obvious that regulations needs to be extended, so that the IRC chat does not become a safe heaven for people simply want to violate the rules set forth by the community. The rules of the channel are very simple and straight forward. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with these rules and do not hesitate to contact a channel operator or higher should you have any questions or concerns about these rules. Ignorance is not a bliss when it comes to these rules. Follow these simple rules or expect to face consequences.

  1. No Abusing Access Rights
The administrators / operators / voiced users may at their discretion temporarily or permanently increase your access level in the channel. With increased access level, you may or may not be entitled to additional access rights. You are not allowed to abuse these access rights in any way, corrective measures will be taken should the administrators / operators seem necessary.
  2. PG13 Rated Contents
To allow a wider group of users to enjoy our service, all contents posted in the channel must be rated PG13 (or otherwise approved). No sexual explicit, or violent content will be allowed at any time.
  3. No Tolerance for Illegal Contents
Illegal contents are not welcomed by any means. Do not ask for anything illegal, do not share or otherwise make available access to anything illegal, do not link to anything illegal. Furthermore, do not offer solicitation of any sort for "private message" to gain access to illegal contents. If it was not made clear yet, do not discuss anything illegal, period.
  4. No Tolerance for Discrimination or Verbal Abuse in General
Do not use racial slur, profanity, or anything otherwise constitutes verbal abuse. Decision as to what constitutes verbal abuse is at the sole discretion of the operators. If you are not sure whether or not something is inappropriate, do not say it; because chances are, it is inappropriate.
  5. No Tolerance for Spam
While you may share interesting links, or useful resources with other members of the chat, you are not allowed to spam. Referral links, pyramid scheme, multi-level marketing, or anything alike is strictly prohibited. Further to that, do not post messages containing the same information multiple times within a short period of time, or repeatedly when no one is chatting. What constitutes as "short period of time" or "repeatedly" is at the sole discretion of the operators.
  6. No Tolerance for Impersonation
Do not impersonate other member(s) of the community, or pose yourself as who you are not. Do not change your IRC nick to one of another known member. What constitutes as impersonating is at the sole discretion of the operators. In semi-rare cases, where the violation is not as obvious, you may receive a warning prior to ban; however, do not count on getting this warning as the warning is not a requirement for banning.
  7. No Relaying Message for Banned People
Do not relay messages for banned people. If they are banned, they do not deserve to have a say in the channel, and do not have the right to know what is happening in the channel. It doesn't matter even if they wanted the world to know that their grandmother is dying; if they're banned, we don't care enough to want to read about it.
  8. No Tolerance for Ban Evasion
Do not attempt to evade bans by make use of third party services. If you are banned, you're banned for good. Evading your ban will result in contacts to IRC operators (who can permanently ban you from accessing their services). In cases where ban resulted from illegal content, your internet service provider and local authorities will be informed.

Anyone found in violation to these rules will be banned for an indefinite amount of time. Bans can be issued retroactively; that is to say, even if no operator was around to ban you at the time, you may be banned after the fact. Ban decisions are final, complaints / plea / beg will not be entertained. Do not private message anyone to ask for your ban to be removed. It will simply extend your ban duration for even longer.

Generally speaking, follow good net etiquette, and make use of common sense will be sufficient to keep you from being banned. If common sense all the sudden become uncommon, please seek medical support.

Should the administrators feel necessary, this page may update at any time, and are effective within 24 hours of the update. Please be sure to check back regularly, and keep yourself up-to-date with the current rules.

Ban List

Here is a brief list of who is banned for what. This list is not updated live, but it should give a good representation as to why who was banned. The list is provided as is, in no particular order.

  1. *!*@*mibbit.com*
Mibbit client is banned due to abusive behaviours from one or more of its user. Unfortunately, due to the mechanism mibbit is setup to connect to Freenode, there is no method to track down specifically who the troll is; as such, the client is banned all together.
